As part of Coventry Rugby’s 150th anniversary celebrations the club’s charitable arm, Coventry Rugby Foundation, is running a special fundraising appeal to support its vital work in the Coventry and Warwickshire community.

The aim of the Foundation is simple: “To transform lives through the power of sport.”

Coventry Rugby Foundation launches 150th anniversary appeal at Champions Meeting

On July 3rd 2024, Coventry and Warwickshire Champions held their latest breakfast meeting at the home of Coventry Rugby, the Butts Park Arena.

The welcome to participants was delivered by Jon Sharp, Executive Chairman, Coventry Rugby Club and John Edwards, Chair, Coventry Rugby Foundation.

Coventry Foundation 150th Anniversary Appeal

In order to do this vital work in Coventry and Warwickshire, we raise funds from charities, business and individuals. This enables us to provide the facilities, food and expert coaching we need to reach out to our community.

Rugby Camps and Netball Camps

Our Rugby and Netball Camps are the perfect place for budding young stars to refine their skills. Led by our community coaches, these sessions focus on the key skills they need for all forms of the sports.

Coventry Netball

We will be providing a programme of netball that looks to increase participation and nurture talent within the Coventry Schools and the wider community. We will be aiming to improve the current provision of coaching and competition whilst also providing clear exit routes into clubs, county, and performance netball.

Coventry Stampede

Coventry Stampede is Coventry Rugby’s official wheelchair rugby team. Many just come and take part for fun but the Stampede also competes in League fixtures, with the GBWR 5s Championship season underway now!

Walking Rugby

Our Walking Rugby sessions are perfect for those over 50 and looking to get more active. As the name suggests, running is forbidden as is passing the ball higher than shoulder height. There are also no high tackles – or indeed any tackles – and, crucially, no scrums, rucks or mauls, making it perfect for all abilities!

Schools Programme

Never underestimate the influence a professional rugby player can have on a starry-eyed pupil, whether it’s encouraging them to pick up a book, throw a ball or eat more fruit and veg, our players are excellent, accessible role models to children across the city.

Matchday Experiences

Make a matchday unforgettable with one of our experiences for rugby-mad youngsters. It’s a chance for kids to get up close a personal with their favourite players, show their support and have their own coaching session before the big match itself.

Festivals

Festivals are mini tournament days for Under-7s through to Under-12s with multiple games taking place. They are a great opportunity for clubs to get additional game time for all players by taking on some extra fixtures.
