September is set to be a busy month at the Nick Newbold Stadium, with a packed programme of community sport, school rugby, American football and, of course, the return of Coventry Rugby’s league campaign. There’s plenty of reason to make the stadium your destination this month, so here’s what’s coming up.

School Rugby – September 11
The action gets underway with School Rugby on Friday, September 11, as Barrs Hill 1XV take on Bablake School.
Kick-off is at 6pm, with the stadium opening its doors to supporters from 5pm.
It promises to be a great evening showcasing some of the region’s young rugby talent, with the next generation of players taking centre stage at the home of Coventry Rugby.
BAFA Flag Football National Finals – September 12 & 13
The sporting action continues throughout the weekend as the Nick Newbold Stadium welcomes the BAFA Flag Football National Finals.
Taking place on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, the event will see teams competing from 9:30amacross two days of national competition.
With fast-paced action and teams battling for national honours, it’s another example of the stadium’s role as a home for a wide variety of sports and community events.
Coventry Rugby vs Cornish Pirates – September 26
The month reaches its biggest rugby moment on Saturday, September 26, when Coventry Rugby welcome Cornish Pirates for the club’s first home Elior Champ Rugby fixture of the 2026/27 season.
Kick-off: 3pm

Coventry’s 2026/27 league campaign begins away at Rotherham Titans on September 19, before the Blue & Whites return to Coventry for the home opener against Cornish Pirates the following weekend.
It will be the first opportunity for supporters to see the new-look Coventry Rugby side in competitive league action at home this season, and the start of another exciting campaign at the Nick Newbold Stadium.
