Now that our much-loved friend Matt has been laid to rest, we are ready to move forward with the commissioning of the bronze statue that will be erected in his honour, as previously shared. We are pleased to confirm that Paul Kennedy, a highly respected and renowned sculptor, has been commissioned for this work. Lisa and the family have chosen a truly fitting photograph of Matt (attached) to serve as the inspiration for the sculpture. The statue is intended to be placed within the sports complex at Solihull School - an especially meaningful location where Matt studied, coached, and left a lasting and deeply valued impact on the community.

A GoFundMe page has now been set up via the link below, with a target of £16,000, which we are confident will be comfortably surpassed. Any funds raised beyond this amount will, of course, be donated to Matt’s MND Foundation. Mick and I will keep everyone updated on progress. Once the initial 25% deposit is secured, Paul will be able to begin the design process.

This memorial will stand as a lasting tribute, ensuring that for generations to come Matt’s stoicism, fortitude, strength of character and selflessness are remembered with great fondness and respect. Thank you sincerely, in advance, for your generosity and support.
