The highly-rated front row forward arrives at the Nick Newbold Stadium after progressing through the Sale Sharks pathway and establishing himself as one of the most promising young props in English rugby.

Standing at 180cm and weighing 118kg, Onasanya brings top-level experience despite being just 24 years old. His rugby journey began with Eccles Rugby before continuing at Leigh RUFC, where his performances earned representative honours with Lancashire and North of England Counties.

His impressive development saw him progress through England's age-grade pathway, representing both England Under-18s and England Under-20s before breaking into the Sale Sharks senior setup.

During his time at Sale, Onasanya made 43 first-team appearances, featuring in both Premiership and European competition, while also gaining valuable game time during a spell with Chinnor, where he made seven appearances.

A dynamic loosehead prop who combines physicality at the set-piece with mobility around the field, Onasanya arrives at Coventry with significant potential and a desire to continue his development.

Speaking after completing his move, Onasanya is excited for the opportunity ahead.

“I’m really excited and grateful to be coming to such a great team. Having heard, seen and played against Coventry, I know what an amazing group of players they have and I’m looking forward to adding to that.”

Head Coach Alex Rae believes Coventry can provide the ideal environment for the young prop to take the next step in his career.

“Tumy is a player with huge potential and has already proved that in Premiership and European games for Sale. Sometimes you need to take a little step back to then push on again and we’re excited to help him do that.”

Onasanya becomes the latest addition to Coventry's squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, adding further quality and depth to the front row as the club continues to build an exciting group for the season ahead.
