This weekend sees a welcome return to the Nick Newbold Stadium for the Coventry faithful after the monumental struggle at Doncaster and a break week for the team and league.  I am sure a few tired bodies (and fans) feel refreshed after the break!

CRSC always seem to take a bumper crowd to Castle Park.  Their facilities are great and the Cow Pie legendary.  It was fabulous to be able to take up two coaches, and plenty travelled under their own steam too.  I know from speaking to the players the away support is truly appreciated.  While at Castle Park, it was nice to catch up with my old mate Donny Dave.  He is a regular traveller down to Coventry and you will usually find him in the shed dressed as a knight during the reverse fixture.  Generally, we find the welcome at the Knights warm and friendly, so I don’t think I was the only one shocked when people were jeering while Tommy Matthews was lining up the winning kick.  I have seen a fair bit of comment online about this but I truly believe that was not indicative of most Doncaster fans.  I certainly would not want it to spoil what has always been a good relationship.  The overriding emotion at the end of the game was one of relief but I was delighted to see the team pull together and massively pleased to see Coby Stanton-Ford pick up the try at the end.  He certainly looks a prospect.

Ampthill at home this week starts a run of what could be a season defining set of fixtures, so the boys need our support more than ever.  Ampthill sit fifth at the time of writing and have been scoring decent amounts of points, notably 61 points away at Caldy last time out.  I believe Ampthill will arrive at the NNS looking to make a statement, but I back Alex, the coaching staff and the squad to get the win.  Some of the running rugby we have been playing has been outstanding… you can feel the excitement in the stadium when the ball is moved through the hands quickly.  Some of the offloads which have led to line-breaks have been sublime.  More of the same today please!

It is never too late to join CRSC, we do offer more than just coaches throughout the season.  If you are not sure of the benefits, please visit crsc1874.com and take a look.  Brian has re-designed the website this year and it is now easier than ever to navigate and to book your travel.  We write our own match reports from the fans’ perspective, there are details of partner discounts for our members and information on how to join the CRSC 100 Club.  Monthly cash prizes and proceeds to fund the academy, if you haven’t signed up yet then why not?

I look forward to seeing you around the ground on Saturday.
