Great win for Development side

FULL-BACK Max Titchener celebrated his 21st birthday week with an 18-point haul as Coventry Development overcame Old Elthamians 2nd 38-26 in their Zoo Sports Shield game at King Henry VIII Playing Fields, avenging an away loss from November.

Titchener converted Anthony Matoto’s third-minute opening try for a 7-0 lead before a converted Kailus Hutchinson try doubled the home advantage early in the second quarter.

OEs responded with a converted try of their own, but tries in the space of three minutes from Myles Hibbs and Titchener, who converted both, sent Cov into the break with a healthy 28-7 lead.

Two tries in the third quarter for OEs pulled the score back to 28-19, but a Titchener penalty and his conversion of a Cameron Gray try in the space of two minutes took the home side clear again for an excellent win – OEs having the final say with a converted try four minutes from time.
