Eric Blackburn

FORMER  club president and  chairman, Eric Blackburn died peacefully  on Wednesday , aged 89.

Eric was president of the club for two seasons, 1982/83 and 1983/84, whilst also continuing his long association with Cov as club chairman right thorough to the early 1990’s when Gerry Sugrue took over.

Eric’s playing career as a hooker had been cruelly cut short in the 1950s when he lost a leg following an industrial accident. He made his Cov senior debut in the 1950/51 season, making 30 appearances before 1953/54 and his accident.

Eric’s funeral is due to be held on Friday, April, 13, further details to follow.
