Tyas says hello, Jones waves farewell ahead of tomorrow’s home clash against Hartpury.
As announced in the Team News released today, new man on the block James Tyas is set to make his Coventry Rugby Debut this weekend at Butts Park. Formerly of London Scottish where James performed an ever-impressive dual role of player and analyst, the 30-year-old has amassed over 100 appearances in the Championship. Tyas also featured in Coventry’s most recent encounter against Scottish which took place last November.
The forward initially joins the club on a short-term contract, until the end of the season. Rowland Winter is excited to see what Tyas can bring to his playing group; “James has plenty of experience in the Championship and is comfortable in the second or back row so he will be a great addition to the squad. James also has an extensive background in performance analysis and will combine his playing role with supporting our young analysis team to learn and develop their skills.”
As one player enters Winters’ squad, unfortunately another says his goodbye’s – as Coventry can confirm that Joe Jones has now joined Sale Sharks in the Premiership on a permanent basis. Winter expressed; “Whilst it was a short stay, Joe was a really positive influence on the squad, and we wish him the very best with his next steps at Sale.”
Tomorrow’s mouth-watering clash against Hartpury is sure to warm up what has been a frosty couple of days here in the Midlands. The level of skill on show across both sides, as well as Sale Sharks’ most recent front-row acquisition gives indication of the high amounts of talent within the league. “It is another example of a Championship player being recognised and progressing to Premiership rugby, and we are pleased we were able to support Joe in his development” – Rowland Winter.
