DIRECTOR of rugby Rowland Winter expressed his frustration at Coventry’s level of performance after their 33-15 defeat at Rosslyn Park.
Despite struggling for cohesion Cov took the lead in the third quarter at The Rock, but they were unable to press on with Winter conceding that their overall display fell well short of what was required.
“The performance simply wasn’t good enough,” he said. “We didn’t perform anywhere close to the level we have shown so far this season – which is why this performance was so frustrating.
“We lacked accuracy. We missed kicks to touch, we had loads of handling errors, kicked restarts out on the full, missed countless line-outs, made a mess of our own breakdown, and even our scrum struggled.
“The majority of these errors were unforced.
“We lacked accuracy throughout our entire game, but somehow we managed to go in to half time within touching distance of Rosslyn Park. We then took the lead with our second try early in the second half and extended it with a penalty with 25 minutes to go.
“But the lead wasn’t deserved and despite getting into great parts of the pitch and creating chances to score, we didn’t have the accuracy or composure to get over the line.
“We will need to work hard this week to get the accuracy back into our game ahead of the visit of Old Albanians ext weekend.”
