All-action Suva Ma’asi is named on the openside flank in the Coventry team that makes the club’s first trip to Chinnor tomorrow (3pm kick off).
The versatile forward who in recent years has more usually been seen at hooker starts for the first time since suffering a knee injury during Cov’s win at Ampthill in November.
Ma’asi joins Chester Owen and Tom Ball in a mobile back row which this week is without British Army no.8 Tiki Nayalo and Aaron Hinkley who rests a minor knock.
Cov are also missing Rhys Anstey and as a result teenager Dan Green makes his first starting appearance in the second row alongside the experienced James Tyas, with on-loan Bath forward Mackenzie Graham named as their bench cover.
Coventry head coach Alex Rae opts for the same front row and half-backs that started the home win over Cambridge last weekend which means scrum-half Sam Maunder’s return from illness comes from among the replacements.
Changes elsewhere in the Blue-and-Whites’ backline see Tom Hitchcock recalled at inside centre and Daf Tiueti moving out one position to wear their no.13 shirt.
On-loan Glasgow Warrior Logan Trotter makes his Coventry debut at full back from where he will operate alongside the pacy David Opoku and fellow Scotsman Jake Henry whose own Cov debut last weekend was a try-scoring one.
In a bench featuring three backs and five forwards fly half Theo Mannion is in line for a fourth appearance of the season.
The absence of Ryan Hutler means starting scrum-half Josh Barton is now the only player to have been part of all 20 of Cov’s competitive outings this term.
Rae has been impressed by tomorrow’s opponents and following their home wins over Bedford and Doncaster is expecting a testing afternoon in front of a big crowd.
“Chinnor are well coached by Nick Easter and watching their games this season they are physical and direct with a good pack of forwards,” he said.
“We had a really physical day on Tuesday in preparation for that which hopefully puts in a good place heading there at the weekend.
“We’re expecting them to come out of the blocks at 100 miles per hour and have a good go at us and that’s what we’ve prepared for.”
