Coventry Rugby’s Community Foundation has a new Chair following the appointment of John Edwards to lead its Board of Trustees.

He takes office with immediate effect replacing Eric Holt who held the position for four years.

John spent most of his career in the automotive industry with his last seven years prior to retirement being on Jaguar Land Rover’s main board, latterly as Managing Director of Special Operations.

He is now looking forward to getting more involved in Coventry Rugby’s charity foundation which aims to improve lives in the local community through the power of sport.

“I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity to become Chair of the charitable foundation,” he said.

“I really believe that through sport the Foundation can transform lives in Coventry and Warwickshire regardless of physical ability, age, gender, ethnicity or socio-economic background.”

John went on to pay tribute to Eric Holt who led the charity since 2020, driving significant change during his term in office. He hands over the reigns with a number of exciting projects already underway at the start of Coventry Rugby Club’s 150th Anniversary year.

John  said: “ I would like to thank Eric for his hard work and for handing the Foundation over in good health. I am really excited about building on this during the club’s landmark anniversary year and making a positive impact on our community.”

Also joining the board of trustees is another former automotive sector senior executive, Andrew Carpenter, who adds the role to his responsibilities as a Director of Coventry Rugby, a position he has held since 2010.

Andrew is specifically looking into how local and national businesses can engage with and help the Foundation to grow.
