Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce the loan signing of James Voss from Leicester Tigers for the 2018/19 season.
Voss, 23, joined Tigers in March following a season of standout performances in the Greene King IPA Championship for Jersey Reds.
“James is a big ball carrying forward with lots of talent. He is comfortable in the second row and back row, and we have been really impressed with him over the last few weeks,” Said Coventry’s Director of Rugby Rowland Winter.
He continued: “He will train and play with us at Coventry and also maintain a close link with Tigers, so they can monitor his development as he progresses towards a Tigers shirt over the next year.”
Voss will be under the watchful eye of Coventry’s Forwards coach Louis Deacon, who spent his 14-year professional playing career at Welford Road, making over 270 appearances on route to winning six Premiership titles and winning two European cups.
He continued: “Deacs is a great mentor for James, and he knows better than most what it will take to develop him to become a Premiership player.”
Deacon will be supported by Boris Stankovich, current Leicester Tigers scrum coach, who will be working with the Coventry scrum as a consultant for the coming season, returning to the club he made his coaching debut at as a much loved player-coach in 2016/17before joining Tigers a year ago.
Winter added: “To have Boris involved again where possible is a real plus, his attention to detail and knowledge of the scrum will be a huge boost to us for the coming season.”
