Oli Morris has become the latest former Worcester Warrior to sign for Coventry Rugby.

The 24-year-old centre who played 34 games for the collapsed former Premiership club between 2019 and 2022 will join up with Alex Rae’s squad when pre-season training commences in early July.

Last season Morris played for Cov’s Championship rivals Ampthill – a club with whom he previously spent time as a teenager on loan from Saracens academy.

Morris also has an Irish connection which saw him selected in his country’s under-20’s squad in 2019 then snapped up by Munster immediately after Warriors’ demise in October 2022.

Morris, who joins Tom Hitchcock plus fellow new signings Daf Tiueti and Liam Richman in Cov’s midfield pool, said he has been drawn to the blue-and-whites by the club’s attacking approach to the game and consecutive top-three league finishes.

“I had a chat with  (current Cov flanker)  Matt Kvesic who I know from Worcester and he had lots of good things to say about the culture and how much he enjoys it,” Morris said.

“Under the current coaching group Cov play a really exciting brand of rugby and that is something I’m excited to be part of.

“I also believe the club has a very good chance of winning the Championship which is obviously something I’m drawn to.”

Coventry’s head coach believes Morris will be an asset to his club’s 2024/25 league challenge.

“It’s great to welcome Oli to the club,” Rae said. “He’s really impressed me this season and I thought he was a stand-out player for Ampthill.”

“He’s got Premiership experience and will really add to our backline so we’re excited to see what growth we can get out of him being with us.”
