COVENTRY’S squad for this weekend’s home game against Fylde will include three loan players from Wasps.
With injuries to Brett Daynes (leg) and Olly Povoas (knee), and the unavailability of skipper Eoghan Grace, Cov are able to bring in England Under-20s flanker Jack Willis on a short term arrangement with their Ricoh Arena Premiership neighbours.
Also coming in as cover are winger Tom Howe and utility back Owain James with Tom Wheatcroft and Cliffie Hodgson both picking up knocks at Esher last weekend and Max Trimble just returning now to training.
“It’s important we look after them and don’t play them while they are vulnerable and at risk of longer term injuries,” said director of rugby Rowland Winter.
“Tom and Owain provide exciting options to add to our team, both have great all-round skill sets in attack and defence and offer lots of pace to our back line, while Jack has been very impressive in the A League and is a welcome addition to our back row.”
Howe, also an England Under-20 cap, has made seven senior appearances for Wasps and played 26 games for Championship side Jersey last season, while James has spent time at Blackheath.
All three have trained with Coventry this week.
