Coventry Rugby Community Foundation, the club’s independent registered charity, is launching a special appeal to coincide with Cov’s 150th anniversary.
The foundation works hand-in-glove with the highest-ranked rugby club in the West Midlands with the objective of improving lives in the local community through the power of sport.
And it now intends to use fundraising associated with this historic landmark to leave a legacy that benefits Coventry and Warwickshire.
CRCF launches the 150th anniversary appeal with a breakfast meeting at the Butts Park Arena between 8am and 9am on Wednesday February 7th.
Coventry Rugby chair Jon Sharp and newly-appointed foundation chair John Edwards will outline the vision for the anniversary appeal and provide more information about the charity’s work within the local community.
Mr Sharp commented: “We have a long history of working in the community, particularly since the formation of our charitable foundation some years ago.
“We hope to have a number of dignatories at the anniversary appeal launch including our MP Taiwo Owatemi and a number of senior council cabinet members.
“In addition, some of our Foundation ambassadors, who themselves are influential, well-known figures in our community and fully supportive of the work we do will be present.”
The launch aims to provide ample opportunity for attendees to find out more and ask questions while also sticking strictly to a 9am finish time to enable those present to get on with their day.
To this end, Mr Edwards will share information about the foundation’s current work and talk about how the power of sport can really inspire and make a difference in peoples’ lives.
He will then outline some of the exciting plans with which the CRCF intends to make this anniversary year a springboard to leave a meaningful legacy.
Appeal ambassador Taiwo Owatemi MP, whose constituency includes the Butts Park Arena said she is delighted to give her support to the 150th anniversary appeal.
“I am very pleased to be an Ambassador for the Coventry Rugby Community Foundation 150th Anniversary Appeal,” she said.
“I hope that everyone gets behind an initiative that will play a pivotal role in providing important support across the whole spectrum of our community.”
It is hoped that significant numbers from within the local business community will attend the launch event.
