Coventry Rugby have bulked up their pack ahead of the 2024/25 season with the signing of promising 21-year-old prop Jevaughn Warren.
The former Saracens academy loose-head who tips the scales at 120 kg has spent much of recent seasons playing for National One Bishop’s Stortford and Cov’s Championship rivals Ampthill on a dual-registered basis.
Having previously started his rugby life at Letchworth RFC, Warren got involved with the Hertfordshire set-up as a teenager before joining Sarries and enjoying a loan spell with London One North Harpenden during which he also represented England under-20s.
Coventry head coach Alex Rae believes the front-rower has all the attributes to become a top performer.
“It’s great to welcome Jevaughn to Coventry. He’s a young man with huge amounts of potential and very athletically gifted.
“Our job now is to give him the time and attention he needs to help him progress and fulfil his huge potential.”
In leaving Sarries’ academy for Cov Warren is following the same career path as second row forward Obi Nkwocha whose successful first season at the Butts Park Arena has brought 22 appearances.
Warren said he is really looking forward to being involved in the Coventry set-up after playing against the club and hearing plenty about it from his former teammate.
“After Obinna joined Coventry I have followed the club closely over the course of the season,” he said.
“They type of rugby they play – at a fast pace and always looking for front-foot ball – is very appealing to be part of and well-suited to my game.
“When I played at the Butts Park Arena recently I was really struck by how loud and supportive the fans were.
“Obinna has really enjoyed it and once I heard Cov were interested in me it was quickly set in stone for me.”
More announcements will follow regarding the make-up of the 2024/25 squad.
