Charlie Robson makes his first Championship start tomorrow when Coventry Rugby make the journey to Cambridge (3pm kick off).
The Butts Park Arena got its first glimpse of the former Ram’s electric pace when he arrived as a second-half replacement during Cov’s 45-7 home win over Bedford last Saturday.
And the 22-year-old full back is now part of his new club’s starting line-up for the first time as the Blue-and-Whites bid to extend their unbeaten league start to three games.
With his team midway through an uninterrupted six-week block of action, head coach Alex Rae makes two further changes to his starting backline.
In the centre former London Irish midfielder Tom Hitchcock makes his seasonal debut alongside Oli Morris.
And Cov’s coaching team also shuffle the pack at scrum-half where Will Lane is rewarded for his brilliant 25-minute cameo at London Scottish with a first appearance of the term in the run-on team.
Coventry also make changes in all three rows of the scrum for their visit to Grantchester Road.
At hooker, club captain Jordon Poole recovers the armband from Toby Trinder and switches starting and bench roles with Suva Ma’asi while Matt Johnson makes the first start of his second Coventry spell at tight head prop with Billy Nairau named among the replacements.
Having eased back into competitive action via two outings from the bench, experienced second-row James Tyas packs down at Cambridge alongside Obi Nkwocha in the engine room.
And Irish recruit Dan Okeke adds his name to Cov’s list of first-time starters at no.8 which means the in-form Matt Kvesic completes the full back-row set in as many weeks through his selection on the blindside flank.
Tom Ball and Chester Owen are both among the six forwards named on the bench where the pacy David Opoku and scrum-half Josh Barton provide cover for the backs.
With Cov seeking a third consecutive bonus-point win Rae said his selections are based on some outstanding training performances.
He said: “We’re really excited to get back on the road this week and are anticipating a tough fixture against Cambridge after their really good away win at Caldy.
“Our last two wins have been built by the whole squad during the week – training is very competitive and everyone is pushing to play. “We’ve therefore decided we want to reward some of those lads and are looking forward to seeing the team get out there again.”
