DIRECTOR of rugby Rowland Winter rated Coventry’s 55-12 win over Cambridge their most complete performance of the season so far.
Cov led 24-0 at half-time and, on top in the forwards from the start, kept their effort going to the finish, scoring four tries in the final quarter, as they rammed home their advantage.
“It was the closest we have got to a full game performance,” said Winter.
“We demonstrated dominance throughout the majority of the game at the breakdown and the set piece and this gave us the platform to control the game.
“It’s important now that we carry the good form that we have shown in the last six weeks into our away game at Rosslyn Park ,who are in great form now themselves.”
Winter was also delighted with the impact made by development squad prop Jake Byrne who, called up when Matt Price was ruled out by injury, came on for his senior debut for the last 22 minutes.
“Jake took his opportunity well, and he has now set the bar high for himself and the other players within the Development Squad,” said Winter.
“It’s great that we now have a pathway to the 1st XV for young local talent. I am sure others will get their chance as the season progresses.”
