THOSE who witnessed the horrendous injury suffered by Chris May two weeks ago will be pleased to know that the Old Albanian centre is recovering and in good spirits.
We are delighted to give you this personal message from Chris, received via Cov’s second row forward Rob Conquest.
‘’ I had the operation on the Monday evening and it was a success. I was kept in on Tuesday to monitor reaction and went through some physio to begin weight bearing with crutches.
“I was then released on the Wednesday afternoon after the physios and doctors were happy that I could weight bear safely.
“The latest is that I have been referred to the fracture clinic for a follow up back home on Monday 19th. It has been a struggle at times with the pain and discomfort, but hopefully it is now improving.
“I really would like to say a massive thanks to the Coventry RFC medical team, who were outstanding, and a special thanks to Brendan Burke who remained with me until they could safely remove me from the field.
“All the best to the club for the remainder of the season.‘’
The following message was sent to Cov director Phil Kendall by OA‘s secretary, Peter Lipscombe.
“On behalf of those at Old Albanian Rugby, may I extend a big thank you to all the medical staff at Coventry RFC, for the way they treated our injured player, Chris May. We all appreciate injuries do happen on the pitch, however nobody wants to witness a double fracture, tib and fib.
“I know that our management and physio team, together with the players, would want to give special thanks to Rob Conquest and your player coach Brendan Burke who gave our Chris great comfort whilst on the pitch, and thanks to your physio who went to visit Chris in hospital on Sunday night.
“We wish you well for the rest of the season and will remember your outstanding care for our injured player.”
Well done to the club’s medical team and all ho played their part on the day, and we extend our best wishes to Chris for a speedy and full recovery.
